Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is pleased with his team’s displays against the Premier League bigwigs, saying that it is a positive development that they can build on heading into next season.

The Gunners had continuously been coming up short against the title contenders in the previous seasons, but this campaign they have registered some significant wins over the bigwigs.

They defeated Manchester City away after a dominant display, took apart Liverpool in a 4-1 shellacking at home and ousted Manchester United from the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage. Arsenal also held Jose Mourinho’s title winning Chelsea to a scoreless draw last month.

Wenger feels that his side’s encouraging displays against the traditional bigwigs are a great positive to take into next season, adding that their campaign wasn’t helped by the plethora of injuries that they suffered from.

“We have made progress, we have better defensive stability, the belief in the team is strengthened for a big challenge next year and we have overcome a hurdle that we did not do last season, to exist in the big games”, the manager was quoted as saying by his club’s site.
