Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has laid into his former club for their 6-1 drubbing at Stoke City today.

Brendan Rodgers' men were taken apart by the Potters at the Britannia Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season, being 5-0 down by half time due to appalling defending.

On his final game for the club Steven Gerrard pulled a goal back in the second half, but Peter Crouch scored with a header to make it 6-1 and a thoroughly forgettable afternoon for the Reds, who have now finished sixth in the Premier League standings. Contract rebel Raheem Sterling was left on the bench.

For Carragher, the display was simply not acceptable for a Liverpool team.

He took to Twitter to write: "Embarrassing day for all connected with LFC. 6-1 is not acceptable.
