New Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler is closing on appointing a number two, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The German tactician is poised to hand former Leicester City manager Rob Kelly the role as his right hand man, with the 50-year-old sure to bring much experience to the post.

Kelly had a spell in charge of Leicester between 2006 and 2007, before then embarking upon a number of coaching assignments which ultimately saw him have caretaker spells at Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and West Brom.

He most recently worked with Alan Irvine at West Brom, with his caretaker spell lasting a single game following Irvine's sacking.

Rosler could name Kelly his number two later this week in what would be the first part of his backroom recruitment process.

The former Wigan man has also been given the authority to appoint a first team coach as well as a head of recruitment.

It had been thought Rosler would turn to former Leeds star Gunnar Halle as his number two.
