Celtic captain Scott Brown has heaped praise on striker Leigh Griffiths for his prolific goal return this season, saying that the 24-year-old has had a great season for the Hoops.

Griffiths struggled to find a regular starting spot in the team in the early parts of the season, but he has made full use of his increased prominence in manager Ronny Deila’s plans since the turn of the year and contributed 20 goals to the Bhoys’ campaign.

14 of Griffiths' goals came in the league as the Hoops wrapped up their fourth successive league title. He also scored three times in as many appearances in the League Cup to help them win the competition and thereby finish the season with a domestic double.

And Brown has lavished praise on the striker for his contribution to Celtic’s successful season.

“He’s had a great season”, the 29-year-old told his club’s site.
