Manchester United defender Phil Jones has expressed his satisfaction with a positive 2014/15 season and hopes to be back even stronger next term.

Jones had an injury plagued 2014/15 season under manager Louis van Gaal and only started to bounce back from the new year, managing a series of impressive displays for the Red Devils.

In spite of that the England defender managed only 24 appearances for his side, his joint lowest tally during his four year stay at Old Trafford.

Jones though sees the season as a reasonably good one for himself, in spite of being injured and hopes to improve even further during next season.

“Yeah I think the season has been reasonably good for me”, Jones was quoted as saying by his club's official website.

“I had a good run of games towards the middle and back end of the season when I felt like I was in really good form at the time.

"I had a little injury and then I was out for a game, but hopefully next season I can be even stronger."

The 23-year-old also took time to speak about Manchester United's season, insisting that they are not absolutely ecstatic about finishing fourth but are satisfied at having achieved their goal of managing a Champions League spot.

"It is a steady progression. We are not absolutely ecstatic about finishing in fourth – that is not the case at all.

"We are satisfied at finishing fourth and the aim was to finish in at least that position at the start of the season. We have done what we needed to do, but we need to improve upon that next season."
