Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has expressed his delight at the Hoops’ title triumph and his impressive tally of ten goals in all competitions.

Ronny Deila’s men have wrapped up their fourth successive league title and were presented with the trophy after their 5-0 defeat of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle yesterday.




Having wrapped up the League Cup in March after their 2-0 defeat of Dundee United at Hampden Park in March, the Scottish giants have finished the season with a domestic double in tow.

And Van Dijk has expressed his delight at the Hoops winning the league title; he admitted that the league was a lot more competitive compared to last season.
 


“It was a little bit tougher this year than last year but in the end we deserved it and it was a good season”, the defender told his club’s site.

“For me it has been all about the championship this year.

“I want to be a champion and that’s what we are.”

The Dutchman was often on the scoresheet for the Bhoys and ended the season with a tally of ten goals from all competitions, four of which came in the Premiership and he admitted that getting into double figures has been one of the season highlights for him.

“I scored ten goals and that’s something new and a highlight for me.”
