Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen has revealed that he enjoyed playing in the Old Firm derby against Rangers in the League Cup this season, adding that he relished the support of the Hoops’ faithful.

Johansen has been one of the standout performers for Celtic this season, having contributed 13 goals and ten assists in all competitions to help them end the season with the league title and the League Cup.




For his stellar displays in this campaign, the Norwegian was named the Scotland PFA Player of the Year.

Talking about the highlights of the past season, the 24-year-old said that he relished playing in the Old Firm derby against Celtic’s fierce rivals Rangers – a match that eventually ended in a 2-0 triumph for the Bhoys – and also recalled the experience of playing against Inter Milan in the Europa League.
 


“To play against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final was fantastic because I’d heard so much about the game, so it was amazing to get to the final after that”, he told his club’s site.

The 24-year-old further added that he is enjoying the support shown by the Hoops faithful and feels welcomed by the fans.

“The supporters have really taken me on board, not only this season but last season too. I came here and felt welcome from day one and I’m very grateful for that. It’s important.

“Everywhere I go I meet Celtic fans and they’re always nice to you.

“That’s an important thing and I really like it here.”
