Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has played down talk of Jurgen Klopp succeeding Pep Guardiola at the club by insisting he wants to keep the Spanish tactician beyond 2016.

Klopp is parting company with Borussia Dortmund this summer following a successful seven-year spell during which he established himself as one of the top coaches in European football.

It has been suggested that Klopp could move to the Allianz Arena next summer to take over from Guardiola, whose contract with Bayern Munich ends in 2016.

But Rummenigge, who has been hugely impressed with the former Barcelona coach's impact in Munich, wants Guardiola to continue with the Bavarians beyond 2016, such has been his success at the club.

"I'm very happy with him", Rummenigge told Focus Online.

"He has brought us five trophies in two years. No one before him ever did that.

"I'll try to do everything to ensure that Pep Guardiola stays here as coach after 30th June 2016."

Guardiola led Bayern Munich to success in the Bundesliga this season, but his side exited the Champions League at the semi-final stage and also failed to reach the German Cup final, which will be contested by Klopp's Dortmund and Wolfsburg.
