Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has expressed satisfaction with the way their 2014/15 campaign turned out.

The Bavarian giants were dominant in the Bundesliga and ended the season with their third successive league title.




However, they failed at the semi-final stage of the Champions League for a second successive season. Having lost 5-0 over the two legs to Real Madrid in the semi-final last season, they stumbled out after 5-3 aggregate reverse by Barcelona.

They also failed in their bid to retain the German Cup after they lost to fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund at the semi-final stage. The match was tightly contested and had to be decided on penalties after it finished 1-1 in normal time. 
 


Neuer, a 2014 World Cup winner with the German national team, has expressed his satisfaction over the way the season has turned out for the Bavarians. Although they could have ended the season with the DFB Pokal in tow, he feels.

“Overall we played top class football and dominated the Bundesliga, so we’re very pleased – although obviously we’d have liked to get further in the cup competitions”, the goalkeeper told his club’s site in an interview.

“There’s no shame in losing to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, especially as we were missing so many key players.

“The cup exit to Dortmund was a shame, because we were actually the better team and would have deserved to win it.”
