Manchester United defender Phil Jones has heaped praise on Ryan Giggs for the stellar playing career he enjoyed with the Red Devils, saying the 41-year-old was a class apart.

Giggs is currently working as an assistant to Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford after hanging up his playing boots at the conclusion of the 2013/14 season.

The Welshman enjoyed a 24-year career with the Red Devils and went on to hold the record for the most appearances of any player at the club. Through the course of his playing career, he won 13 league titles, four FA Cups and two Champions Leagues.

Jones, who joined the Old Trafford-based outfit in the summer of 2011 from Blackburn Rovers, has named Giggs amongst his top five Manchester United legends. And feels that the 23-year-old remains unmatched in what he does both on the field and off it.

“What can you say about Giggsy? He's class in everything he does”, the defender told his club’s site.

“He was just class as a player, not just in what he did on the pitch but also off the pitch.”

Jones made 24 appearances in all competitions this season after enduring injuries through the campaign.

Manchester United ended the season in fourth and have qualified for the Champions League playoff round as a result.
