Real Madrid linked Rafael Benitez has announced that he will leave Napoli at the end of the season.

The former Liverpool boss joined the Italian giants in 2013 and won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana with the club.

However, his contract with Napoli runs out this summer and Benitez announced that their home fixture against Lazio this weekend will be his last game in charge of the club.

Napoli will have to beat Lazio on Sunday at the San Paolo to ensure Champions League football next season.

“My two-year contract with Napoli will end on Sunday with the match against Lazio”, Benitez said in a press conference.

“I want to say goodbye to the club with a win and qualification to the Champions League.”

The former Inter boss has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and it is widely believed that the Spaniard has all but agreed to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.

While neither of the two parties are yet to confirm the appointment, Real Madrid are expected to announce Benitez’s name as their new manager next week.
