Matthias Sammer, Bayern Munich's sporting director, has admitted his admiration for Manchester United winger Angel di Maria.
Bayern Munich have been linked with making a move for Di Maria, who has struggled to hit the heights expected at Manchester United since his British record £59.7m transfer to the club from Real Madrid last summer.
The Bavarian giants are increasingly looking for successors to ageing wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben – and Di Maria has a fan in the form of Sammer, who has not been put off my a season of struggle in England.
"A wonderful player, left footed and very flexible", Sammer told Sky Deutschland, when asked about Di Maria.
"He has a little difficulty with Manchester United, but basically he is a good player", the German added.

It remains unclear whether Manchester United will be willing to listen to offers for Di Maria in the summer transfer window, just a year after splashing the cash to take him to Old Trafford.
Paris Saint-Germain, who Manchester United beat to Di Maria last summer, are also watching his situation with genuine interest.
