Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis believes that the Gunners are not too far off mounting a Premier League title challenge given the consistency they produced in the second half of the campaign.

The Gunners have not lifted the league title since 2004 and capturing the crown once again remains a burning ambition at the Emirates Stadium.

Gazidis knows that to mount a title challenge Arsenal will have to be consistent throughout the season, not just in spurts or only in the second half of the campaign.

But he feels he has seen enough to suggest that is indeed possible.

Gazidis told Arsenal Player: "There's been a huge amount of work done behind the scenes all the way through the club to put us on a good trajectory.

"I think now we can see the results of all that work beginning to show through, in a squad of first team players who are growing together, a young group of players for the most part, and who are really showing us their potential.

"The challenge for us going into next year is to show more consistency than we've shown this year, and we have seen that consistency in the second half of the season.

"We need to make sure we can do that for a full season and if we can put that together I think we've got a real chance next year to achieve what we've all been aiming for which is a real challenge for the Premier League title", the CEO concluded.

Arsenal ended a nine-year trophy drought last season by picking up the FA Cup. The Gunners are once again through to the final of the competition this term and face Aston Villa tomorrow at Wembley as they look to end the campaign on a high.
