Aaron Ramsey insists Arsenal are all about winning trophies, after the Gunners took Aston Villa apart 4-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Arsenal quickly looked at home and more at the races than Aston Villa, but had to wait until the 40th minute to take the lead when Theo Walcott lashed a shot into the back of the net.

The Gunners were just getting warmed up and did not let the half time break interrupt them, doubling their lead when Alexis Sanchez collected the ball outside the penalty area and hit a superb strike which swerved and beat Shay Given in the 50th minute.

Aston Villa were on the rack, but hung on until the 62nd minute, when Per Mertesacker lost his marker Christian Benteke and converted with a header to make it 3-0.

It got even worse for Aston Villa before the end, with Olivier Giroud turning in an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cross in injury time to make it 4-0.

The Gunners celebrated, having retained the FA Cup they won last year and Ramsey was delighted.

He told the BBC: "This is what it's all about – being in finals and winning silverware.

"That's what being a professional footballer is all about. You want to look back at your career and the things you've achieved and won.

"So this is another one to go in the collection for the players and I'm delighted with that."

And Ramsey's team-mate Walcott feels Arsenal have a superb squad which means they should be winning trophies on a regular basis.

"I've been here for a long time and this is one of the best squads I've been part of.

"We should be achieving much more, but I believe now that's two FA Cups – the Premier League is the next big target."
