Ron Vlaar, who has been linked with Manchester United, says he may just remain at Aston Villa after all.

The Netherlands international is out of contract with Villa in the summer and has been linked with a whole host of clubs, his impending free transfer status making him an ever more appealing prospect.

But Aston Villa progressing to the FA Cup final, where they meet Arsenal today, along with their survival in the Premier League under Tim Sherwood, has made remaining a tempting proposition for Vlaar.

He told the Algemeen Dagblad: "There have been a lot of changes and all for the better.

"Yes, it may just be that I stay at this club", Vlaar added, before conceding the season has been a difficult one.

"It's been a tough season", the Dutch defender reflected.

"It's even been frustrating for me because of the many injuries I had which prevented me from getting my rhythm.

"But if we grab the FA Cup and then I beat Latvia with the Oranje, I will go on holiday with a good feeling."

Aston Villa snapped the 30-year-old up from Dutch outfit Feyenoord in 2012, with him penning a three-year contract at Villa Park upon his arrival.

Vlaar has 31 Netherlands caps to his name and is a regular for the Oranje at international level. He starred for the country at the World Cup last summer.
