Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has "largely" agreed personal terms with Manchester United, leading to the Red Devils at present being his most likely destination this summer.

Gundogan has only one year remaining on his contract with the Ruhr giants and has refused to sign an extension. He has also asked that he be sold in the summer, a request Dortmund have agreed to.




The Germany international is thought to be interesting a number of clubs, including Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, Luis Enrique's Barcelona and Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich, but it is Manchester United who are out in front in the race for his signature.

Indeed, according to German daily WAZ, Gundogan has "largely" agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

Louis van Gaal's men will still have to reach an agreement with Dortmund for Gundogan, while finishing the final stage of talks with the player, before a deal can be pushed over the line.

But Old Trafford appears likely to be the former 1.FC Nurnberg midfielder's most likely destination this summer, even if his representatives are still talking with other clubs.

Gundogan will go down as yet another key player lost by Dortmund in recent years, however a sale to Manchester United would not strengthen the club's domestic rivals.

Mario Gotze (2013) and Robert Lewandowski (2014) both left for Bayern Munich.
