Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is only prepared to allow Filipe Luis to return to former club Atletico Madrid if the Spanish giants agree to send either Toby Alderweireld or Miranda the other way in exchange.

Luis swapped Atletico Madrid for Chelsea last summer, but has struggled to make his mark in Stamford Bridge and is prepared to return to his former stomping ground.

But Mourinho is not willing to easily let go of Luis, with the knowledge of how desperate Diego Simeone is to sign the left-back strengthening his hand.

Indeed, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, the Portuguese will only let Luis move back to the Spanish capital if he gets a player he wants in return.

Mourinho favours Alderweireld coming into Stamford Bridge, with the Belgian having impressed on a season-long loan with Southampton in the Premier League.

However, the Portuguese would also be content to take another centre-back in the form of Miranda, as he seeks to bolster his options at the back.

The ball is now in Atletico Madrid's court as they consider just how far they are willing to go to re-sign Luis.
