Celtic new boy Dedryck Boyata has revealed that his conversations with John Guidetti convinced him to sign for the Bhoys and the success of Jason Denayer during his loan stint at Celtic Park also helped him make his mind up.

Boyata has been signed by the Hoops on a four-year deal from Premier League outfit Manchester City – a club he joined in 2006.

Guidetti and Denayer both enjoyed successful loan stints at Celtic Park this season, with the striker going on to score 15 times and register 12 assists in all competitions.

Denayer formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Virgil van Dijk and went on to play 44 matches in all competitions and helped Ronny Deila’s side clinch a double of the Premiership title and the League Cup.

Boyata has revealed that he spoke to Guidetti and he spoke highly of the club which helped him make his decision to sign for the Hoops, adding that he was also influenced by the success of his compatriot Denayer.

“I haven't spoken to him a lot, but I've known Jason for a few years now and before he signed here he was sometimes in my house, we had a good relationship and obviously seeing him kind of having a good season kind of made me do my own thing”, he told Celtic TV.

“But I spoke most to Guidetti and he told me good things about this club.”

When Boyata was pressed to reveal what Guidetti did tell him, he replied: “[He said] they [Celtic] are a good club and they are a good club to play football.”
