Motherwell are trying to scupper Leeds United's bid to sign striker Lee Erwin.

The Yorkshire giants have been in talks with Erwin, who is out of contract at Motherwell this summer, and are quickly closing on an agreement, which could see the Scottish side receive over £500,000 as a development fee.

But Motherwell have not given up on keeping Erwin and confirmed today that the hitman has been offered a fresh deal at Fir Park.

The Scottish top flight club may be fighting a losing battle in their bid to retain the young striker, but they are not waving the white flag yet.

Erwin has been with Motherwell since 2006 and as such the club will be entitled to a hefty development fee if he does head to Elland Road.

Leeds head coach Uwe Rosler is thought to be a firm fan of Erwin, who has also been chased by the German's former club Wigan Athletic.
