Juventus are stepping up their interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain after hitting a brick wall in their pursuits of Robin van Persie and Edinson Cavani.

The Champions League runners-up are desperate to add another proven world-class striker to their ranks in the summer as they bid to show this season was no flash in the pan and announce that they are well and truly back amongst Europe's big boys.

Juventus have long had an eye on Higuain and now, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, they are stepping up on their interest.

Higuain is wanted by Arsenal and an opportunity has been spied by his suitors due to Napoli not qualifying for next season's Champions League.

But for Juventus, who have just signed Paulo Dybala from Palermo for €32m, affording Higuain looks tough.
