Benfica's president Luís Filipe Vieira, along with super agent Jorge Mendes, was in London yesterday for talks with Manchester United officials.

The president, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, held further discussions over the potential sale of Argentine midfielder Nicolas Gaitan to the Red Devils.

He also brought up winger Nani, who spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon from Manchester United.

Benfica's president is keen on snapping up Nani and wants the winger to be included in any deal for Gaitan.

The Portuguese champions are looking at Nani heading to the Estadio da Luz on a season-long loan deal, similar to the arrangement Manchester United made with Sporting Lisbon last summer.

It is unclear how far down the road Manchester United's interest in Gaitan is.

Late last month it was claimed in Portugal that Gaitan's move to Old Trafford was 80 to 90 per cent complete, but the trail has since gone cold.

Filipe Vieira's presence in London with Mendes and his meeting with Manchester United officials suggests there is still hope the deal may go through however.
