Juventus have knocked back a proposal from Arsenal for defender Daniele Rugani, who now appears likely to remain in Turin next season.

Rugani has just completed a loan spell with Empoli, where he impressed in helping the club to maintain their Serie A status.

A number of clubs are chasing the defender and Juventus have already knocked back offers from Napoli, Genoa and Sampdoria.

Now, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal can be added to that list.

Juventus are keen for coach Massimiliano Allegri to run the rule over Rugani throughout pre-season and right up until the start of the new Serie A campaign.

Allegri will then take a call on whether Rugani should remain with Juventus for the forthcoming season, or be shipped elsewhere on another loan spell.

The 20-year-old defender appeared in every one of Empoli's 38 Serie A games this season, scoring three times.

Long tipped for the top, Rugani has been capped for Italy through from Under-16 level to Under-21 level and is considered a potential future stalwart for the senior Azzurri side.
