Belgian club Genk will receive a compensation fee of €300,000 from Lille for new Liverpool striker Divock Origi according to orders from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Lille have been ordered by the CAS to pay a sum of €300,000 as a compensation fee for Liverpool-bound Origi, whom they snapped up as a 15-year-old.

Origi, who started his youth career at Genk, was ineligible for a professional contract under Belgian law which allowed Lille to pounce on him for free.

Genk appealed to the CAS for Lille to pay the now 20-year-old’s compensation fee, and their appeal has been declared successful by the judicial body which forces the Ligue 1 club to pay up.

"The arbitration body has calculated the amount of the training compensation due and has ordered the payment of €300,000 from LOSC Lille Metropole to KRC Genk", said a CAS statement.

Genk previously went to FIFA with their grievance, but they were knocked back on the grounds that they hadn’t offered the player a contract before his move to France.

Origi will be joining Liverpool next season after spending last season on loan at Lille. He was signed by the Anfield outfit in the summer of 2014.
