Lewis Walters has agreed a new one-year-deal with Leeds United.

A statement on Leeds' official website read: "Walters, a product of United’s esteemed Academy, will officially put pen to paper in the coming days after accepting the offer presented to him last month."

The young Englishman moved up from the Under-21s to the first team squad last season, but has so far failed to break into the first team for the club that finished 15th in the Championship last season.

He was an unused substitute in the Whites’ home defeat against Watford in February, while he was out injured for large parts of the 2014/15 season through a knee injury picked up during pre-season which blocked his further progress into the senior squad.

Walters will be given his chance to impress new manager Uwe Rosler, who was appointed last month, in pre-season. The youngster made a positive impact playing for the Under-21s last season in an injury-plagued campaign.
