Lyon are set to open talks with Manchester City to sign former Celtic defender Jason Denayer on loan this summer.

The 19-year-old Belgian was impressive for Celtic in their league title winning campaign during his loan spell with the Hoops.

Though Ronny Deila was desperate to keep Denayer at Celtic Park, the youngster was keen to return to Manchester City to try to prove himself at the Etihad Stadium.

But now Ligue 1 side Lyon have taken a liking for the player and according to Le Parisien they are set to open talks with Manchester City to sign Denayer on a season-long loan deal this summer.

Manchester City are in no mood to sell a big talent such as the Belgian but may be ready to send him on another loan deal as the defender is unlikely to receive the first team opportunities he is craving at the Etihad next season.

Despite being just 19, Denayer was a near constant feature in the Celtic starting eleven this season and made 44 appearances across all competitions.

He also made his debut for Belgium earlier this year and has already earned three caps for the Red Devils.
