Any summer move for ex-Queens Park Rangers captain Joey Barton by Leeds United is looking less likely owing to his high wage demands, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Last month, the 32-year-old was released by QPR following their relegation from the Premier League. The midfielder, who has been capped a single time for England, has been linked with a move to Championship club Leeds over the summer.

However, Barton's wage demands mean a switch to Leeds is unlikely for the midfielder, according to the the local paper.

The former Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder was released by the Rs along with Brian Murphy, Richard Dunne, Rio Ferdinand, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Bobby Zamora.

Barton, who made 99 appearances for the Loftus Road outfit, preferred not to take a substantial pay cut which dealt the final blow to his chances of staying with QPR.
