Manchester United are ready to slap a big-money bid on the table for Lazio's Argentine international midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to Italian daily Il Messaggero.

The 29-year-old defensive midfielder joined the Roman outfit in 2013 from Anderlecht and played a definitive role in the club qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

His performances have attracted the attention of some tops clubs from Europe, especially Manchester United, whose scouts have watched him in action this season.

Louis van Gaal is claimed to have been impressed and has asked the club to make a move for the former Anderlecht midfielder.

And the Red Devils are reportedly ready to pay a fee of around €26m to Lazio for the transfer of Biglia this summer.

Though Lazio are keen to keep the player at the club, it has been claimed that they are pondering over selling him to raise funds to reinvest in other areas of their squad.

Therefore, Lazio may be interested in negotiating a deal for Biglia’s transfer should Manchester United officially decide to lodge a bid.

Biglia still has more than three years left on his contract with the club but Lazio’s willingness to sell him could trigger his departure from Italy this summer.
