Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has headed to China to sign for Didier Drogba's former club Shanghai Shenhua.

The 30-year-old midfield destroyer most recently turned out with Levante in Spain, but has opted to make the move to China to link up with the Shanghai-based outfit.

In China, Sissoko will play under countryman Francis Gillot, the former Bordeaux coach who took charge of Shanghai Shenhua last year.

The Frenchman is due in China tonight, arriving in Beijing, before he then takes a flight to Shanghai.

Sissoko started his career in the youth ranks at French outfit Auxerre before then moving to Spain with Valencia.
