Manchester United are preparing a bid to snare away Turkish international Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid this summer and have left AC Milan trailing in their wake, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 28-year-old’s agent said yesterday that his client wants to leave Atletico Madrid and confirmed that the winger wants to play in the Premier League next season. He also insisted that talks are already under way with clubs in England and Europe.

Manchester United are said to be keen to sign the player and it is claimed Louis van Gaal has asked the club to act on their interest in Turan.

Indeed, the Red Devils are preparing a bid of more than €40m for the former Galatasaray man to prise him away from Atletico Madrid.

The figure being touted is close to his buy-out clause of €41m and might force Los Colchoneros’ hand into selling the player this summer.

Manchester United are also ready to offer a lucrative four-year contract to the Turkey international to convince him to pack his bags for Old Trafford.

A winger by trade, Turan has the ability to play on both flanks and is also adept at playing down the middle.

His versatility and work rate are believed to be the key reasons why Van Gaal wants to take him to the north west of England this summer.

Turan still has two years left on his contract with Atletico Madrid.
