Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm is satisfied with the way his first season at White Hart Lane turned out for him and is eager to work hard to earn more first team appearances next term.

Vorm landed at the north London outfit last summer from Swansea City, but he mostly played second fiddle to first choice custodian Hugo Lloris in the Lilywhites’ goal.

Through the course of his first season at White Hart Lane, the Dutchman was reduced to 14 appearances in all competitions and kept four clean sheets as Spurs reached the final of the League Cup – which they ultimately lost to Chelsea – and finished fifth in the league standings.

Vorm feels that he gave a good demonstration of his skills during his first season under manager Mauricio Pochettino and is eager to work harder in order to garner more appearances in the coming season.

“I think that I’ve shown who I am and what I can do over the last year”, the goalkeeper told his club’s site.

“Obviously people will have seen me play before, but it’s always good to show what you can do in games in front of your own supporters.

“I can say that, with the 14 games I’ve played, it’s not bad for my first season at Spurs.

“When you’re new at a club, it’s not easy. You need to settle in, you bring your family to a new area, change homes, the whole package, so it was quite a ride last season.

“But as a goalkeeper, for me it’s all about working hard every day on the training pitch and if you get the chance to play you try to do as well as you can.”
