Leeds United's chances of signing winger Simone Pepe have received a blow after the player revealed he is looking to remain in his native Italy.

Pepe is out of contract with Juventus this summer and is leaving the Bianconeri. He has already cleared out his locker at the club's training ground and admits it was an emotional experience.

The 31-year-old, who saw the latter spell of his time in Turin dogged by injuries, told Italian daily Tuttosport: "Emptying my locker at [Juventus’ training centre] Vinovo I did with incredible sadness.

"Beyond the unfortunate injuries, at Juventus I spent five fantastic years at an incredible club. I gave my heart and soul and even a leg."

Pepe, who says he will forever cherish his connection with the Juventus faithful, is now vowing to look for a new club in Italy.
