Liverpool are continuing their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev as they aim to take the Russia international to Anfield, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

Cheryshev has a fan in the form of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers and the winger has been mooted as a potential replacement for Raheem Sterling, who is being chased by Manchester City.

The 24-year-old spent last term on loan at Villarreal, while the season prior he spent time with Sevilla.

Cheryshev is keen to ensure he continues to play regular first team football next term, something which appears unlikely at the Bernabeu.

Liverpool are hoping Real Madrid will consent to Cheryshev's departure, although it remains to be seen if the deal would be a fresh loan for the Russian or a permanent move.

The wide-man has spent the majority of his time at the Bernabeu playing with the club's second string, Real Madrid Castilla.

However, he has turned out for the senior team, making his debut in the Copa del Rey in 2012.
