Rangers defender Darren McGregor has opened up on the demands of the club’s new manager Mark Warburton.

The 29-year-old is looking forward to working with former Brentford boss Warburton, who was appointed earlier this month as the new manager at the Ibrox club.

“The main things he was mentioning was just respect each other, commitment; he loves players that work hard, honesty”, said McGregor, when asked about what Warburton expects from him in a press conference at the Gers’ Murray Park training centre.

“These aren’t just football things; they are transferable to life in general so I totally agree with him.

“For me I was just ticking a box for myself in the sense that these are all traits that I carry”, he added.

The Scot, who claimed the club Player of the Year last season, is “definitely” looking forward to working together with his new manager.

“I’m looking forward to working with him, definitely.”

McGregor moved to Rangers from St Mirren last summer and played 58 times for the Ibrox outfit in a marathon 2014/15 season. He scored five goals and provided four assists, his highest career tally in the Championship.

Rangers will hope to win promotion into the Scottish Premiership in the upcoming campaign after losing in the playoff final to Motherwell last season.
