Inter Milan are yet to establish contact over signing Lucas Leiva despite Liverpool's apparent willingness to sell him this summer.

The 28-year-old midfielder was wanted by the Nerazzurri in the January window but Brendan Rodgers blocked any attempt to prise him away from Anfield.

However, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, despite the Reds being ready to sell the Brazilian this summer, Inter are yet to reignite their interest in him.

Rodgers wants to add fresh faces to his midfield ahead of the new season and is said to be ready to put Lucas on the chopping block.

However, Inter are yet to show an interest in the player who they craved for six months ago and have not yet resumed any contact either with the Reds or the player.

The Nerazzurri have already managed to prise Geoffrey Kondogbia away from Monaco this summer and are believed to be looking at other options before they decide to rekindle their interest in Lucas.

While still remaining a crucial member of the squad, injuries and form resulted in the 28-year-old losing his starting slot in Rodgers' team last season and he made just 16 league apperances from the starting eleven.

Lucas joined Liverpool from Gremio in 2007 and still has two years left on his contract with the club.
