Manchester United have put together a substantial financial package to lure Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller to Old Trafford this summer, according to Germany daily Bild.

Louis van Gaal wants to add a big name forward to his squad this summer as he looks to build a team, capable of handling the twin challenge of the Premier League and Champions League next season.

Harry Kane has been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils but Manchester United are said to be planning an audacious move for Bayern Munich forward Muller.

It has been claimed that Manchester United have put together a financial package worth €160m in wages and as a transfer fee, to lure the 25-year-old Germany international told Old Trafford this summer.

With an iron clad contract that runs until 2019, Bayern Munich are under no pressure to sell one of the success stories of their youth academy in Muller and are ready to knock back any offers for him.

However, Manchester United are seemingly serious about going after Muller and are keen to push ahead with their pursuit of the Weilheim-born forward.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has requested a personal meeting with Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as he looks to convince the Bavarian boss to accept their offer for Muller.

The Red Devils are said to be looking to buy proven talent this summer to reach the next level and Muller’s record, for both club and country, is an attractive proposition for Van Gaal.
