Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has talked up the talents of Manchester United winger Angel di Maria, but insists he is not trying to sign him for the Bavarians this summer.

With wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery getting no younger, Guardiola has been linked with raiding Old Trafford for Di Maria, who endured a lacklustre first campaign in English football last season.

Guardiola counts himself in as a member of the Di Maria fan club. But he is not trying to sign the player for Bayern Munich, he insists.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, quoted by Focus, Guardiola was asked about Di Maria and replied: "I don't need to watch Argentina's games, I know his qualities.

"I think €80m [that Manchester United paid] for him is a lot of money, but that's what the market is like", he continued.

Guardiola was then asked whether Di Maria is a player he would really like at the Allianz Arena and shot back: "No."

Di Maria's future at Manchester United has been the source of much speculation amid suggestions that Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are both keen on signing him this summer.

Manchester United splashed out a British transfer record fee of £59.7m to snap up the Argentina winger from Real Madrid last summer, however he struggled to live up to expectations last term.

Di Maria has insisted he is keen to remain at Old Trafford and prove himself.
