Manchester United hold an interest in Paris Saint-Germain full-back Gregory van der Wiel, but have baulked at the price demanded by the French champions.

Dutch defender Van der Wiel has only a year left on his contract at the Parc des Princes and countryman Louis van Gaal is keen to welcome him to Old Trafford.

However, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, while Manchester United want the former Ajax man, they are not prepared to pay the €10m asking price PSG have slapped on his head.

There could though still be movement towards a potential transfer.

PSG would look at including Van der Wiel in a move to sign Angel di Maria from Manchester United, even if it is not clear the Red Devils are interested in selling the Argentine.

PSG could also look a dropping Van der Wiel's asking price if no progress is made towards a contract extension.

The 27-year-old linked up with PSG in 2012, joining the wealthy French club from Dutch giants Ajax.

At international level, Van der Wiel has made 41 appearances for the Netherlands.
