Nantes are excited by the signing of former Leeds United midfielder Adryan, with French sports daily L'Equipe suggesting he could be the revelations of the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign.

Adryan spent last season on loan at Leeds from Brazilian outfit Flamengo, but despite showing flashes of brilliance, disappeared from view in the second half of the campaign.

With the Whites in the thick of a battle to pull clear of the drop zone in the Championship, Adryan's silky skills were relegated to Under-21 duty.

He left Leeds earlier this summer after the Whites opted not to sign him on a permanent basis from Flamengo, but quickly found his way back to Europe with a season-long loan at Nantes.

The French club's coach Michel Der Zakarian is excited about Adryan's arrival and believes his versatility could be key.

Der Zakarian told L'Equipe: "He can dribble, he can hit set pieces, he can play behind the strikers in a midfield diamond or in an attacking triangle in a 4-3-3."

Adryan has been dubbed the "new Zico" and becomes the fourth Brazilian player in Nantes' history.

Should he impress in France, Nantes can move to keep him on a permanent basis.
