Highly rated coach Pep Lijnders will step up to join Liverpool's first team coaching staff, according to the BBC, while Sean O'Driscoll will become Brendan Rodgers' new number two.

Liverpool have been looking for new first team coaches since parting ways with Rodgers' assistant Colin Pascoe and first team coach Mike Marsh earlier this summer, the pair feeling the heat for a disastrous campaign which saw the Reds finish just sixth in the Premier League.

Lijnders is not seen as a direct replacement for Marsh however and will instead take a position addressing elite player development, while continuing with his work at the club's academy.

O'Driscoll meanwhile has left his role as England Under-19 boss in order to become Rodgers' number two at Anfield and will be confirmed in his position tomorrow.

Despite the two new fresh faces around the first team, Liverpool are still looking to bring in a third coach, though no decision has yet been made on who that could be.
