Leeds United new boy Chris Wood has revealed that he chose the Yorkshire-based outfit because he wants to play football and is aiming to do that at Elland Road.

The New Zealand striker signed for the Peacocks on a four-year deal from Premier League side Leicester City, thus becoming new manager Uwe Rosler's fourth signing of the summer.

The 23-year-old on his part welcomes the move, insisting that the transition will suit him best as he wants to play first team football and hopes that Leeds will provide him with the opportunity to do so.

While reflecting on his time at the King Power Stadium, where he managed a total of just 62 appearances in the course of the last three seasons, Wood revealed that it was hugely frustrating for him.

But the striker is well aware of the fact that ups and downs are parts of life and one has to accept that.

Speaking about his time at Leicester City the youngster told Yorkshire Evening Post: "It was hugely frustrating and I didn’t play as much as I wanted.

“But that’s football. You have ups and downs and that was a down.

“Hopefully I am coming here [at Leeds] to push on. That’s an up.”

“I like playing football and that’s why this manager brought me here – to hopefully play a bit of football. We’ll work well together.

"I like the ball at my feet but if it needs to come up in the air when the pressure’s on then I can try and hold it up. That’s an element of my game as well."
