Juventus have officially confirmed midfielder Andrea Pirlo has left the club to head for the United States.

Pirlo has completed his move to Major League Soccer club New York City FC after a decorated career at the top of European football.




The Italian, who won four Serie A titles in his four seasons with the Bianconeri, will team up with David Villa and Frank Lampard among others at his new club.

The 36-year-old made 164 appearances for Juventus and scored 19 goals. He won seven trophies with the Turin-based club, and guided them to the Champions League final last season.
 


The Italian won the 2006 World Cup with his national team, and was a key member of the Italy team that reached the final of the 2012 European Championship.

Pirlo started his career at Brescia, before moving to Milan where he played for both Milan clubs, Inter Milan and AC Milan. He had a successful ten-year spell with AC Milan where he won two Serie A titles and two Champions Leagues before making his move to Juventus in the summer of 2011.

Pirlo will join his new club in the middle of their Major League Soccer season. 18 games into the 2015 season, New York City are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference.
