Premier League new boys Watford have confirmed the signing of midfielder Etienne Capoue from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hornets have claimed the deal is a club transfer record fee and Capoue has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Vicarage Road.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs from French outfit Toulouse in 2013 and adds steal to Watford's midfield as the Hornets look to put together a squad to survive in the top flight.

Capoue has made a total of 36 appearances for Spurs since he landed at White Hart Lane.

The Frenchman managed just 12 Premier League appearances last term and is surplus to requirements for manager Mauricio Pochettino.
