Torino have hit a snag in their move to sign Pescara midfielder Birkir Bjarnason, who is now the subject of a fierce push from Palermo.

The 27-year-old is keen to move on from Pescara this summer after the club failed to win promotion from Serie B last season.

Leeds United have been linked with bidding to sign the midfielder, who Whites head coach Uwe Rosler managed at Norwegian side Viking.

But there is also growing interest in the Iceland international from Swiss Super League giants Basel, further complicating the picture.

According to Sky Italia, against this backdrop it is now Palermo who are making most of the running for Bjarnason, but the fight for his signature is fierce.
