Barcelona’s latest acquisition Arda Turan has thanked Atletico Madrid for the four years he had at the Vicente Calderon.

After much speculation regarding his future, with several clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, linked with a move for the Turk, he has been signed on a five-year contract by the Catalans.

Turan joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 from Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray and enjoyed four successful seasons at the Vicente Calderon, winning the league title in the 2013/14 season.

He has thanked Los Rojiblancos for the four years he had at the club.

“These have been four incredible years”, the midfielder said through a statement released on the Atletico Madrid website.

“I have lived very special moments in Atletico and I will never forget my team-mates, the fans and everyone in the club.

“I can only thank everybody.”

Barcelona are current under a FIFA sanction that prevents them from registering new players until the sanction is lifted in January, meaning that Turan will not be able to play for the Catalan side until next year.

His signing was a request from Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who guided the club to a historic treble in his first season in charge of the senior side.
