Atletico Madrid target Matias Kranevitter could move to the Vicente Calderon this summer instead of December, following the sale of Arda Turan to Barcelona, according to Argentine daily Ole.

River Plate have been in talks with Atletico Madrid regarding the sale of the highly-regarded midfielder and he was expected to land at the Vicente Calderon in December.

But after the sale of Turan on a five-year deal to Barcelona, Los Rojiblancos are eager to take the 22-year-old to Madrid this summer.

However, River Plate are currently in the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores and if they qualify for this year’s FIFA Club World Cup, they may decide to keep Kranevitter for the competition.

Atletico Madrid are set to pay a fee of €8m for the River Plate youth academy graduate.
