Fenerbahce have contacted Chelsea to enquire about Inter Milan linked midfielder John Obi Mikel.

The 28-year-old Nigerian international was on the fringes of Jose Mourinho’s title winning team last season.

And though he did win a league winners’ medal, Mikel made just six Premier League starts all season, which indicated his reduced important in the Chelsea squad.

The Blues are believed to be ready to offload him this summer and are claimed to have found a willing buyer in the form of Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Fenerbahce have contacted Chelsea to enquire about Mikel and have received positive signals from Stamford Bridge about a deal for the midfielder.

The midfielder is also keen to play more first team football next season and could agree to end his sojourn with the Blues.

Fenerbahce have already signed Nani from Manchester United this summer and are also close to landing Robin van Persie. Mikel could become the club’s third high profile signing from the Premier League.
