Everton are interested in signing former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic from Inter Milan this summer.

Vidic’s future has been a source of speculation since Roberto Mancini took over the reins of the Inter team in the middle of last season and he was also linked with a move back to Manchester United in the winter window.

The Serbian stayed put until the end of the season, however, it has been claimed that Vidic is not part of Mancini’s future plans at Inter and the club are keen to offload him this summer.

According to Tuttosport, Everton are interested in taking Vidic back to England before the start of the new season and are set to approach Inter to discuss a deal.

Roberto Martinez is in the market for defenders after releasing Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz earlier in the summer and is said to have zeroed in on the former Manchester United defender.

Vidic won five Premier League titles with the Old Trafford outfit and the Everton boss feels the Serbian would add much needed experience to his backline for next season.

And with Inter seemingly ready to offload the 33-year-old, Everton are hopeful of getting a deal done to bring Vidic back to England this summer.

He has made 28 appearances for Inter since joining them as a free agent last summer and has a contract until 2017.
