Manchester United have sent an astonishing offer of €100m to Bayern Munich for Thomas Muller, it has been claimed.

Louis van Gaal's men have already raided Bayern Munich once this summer, snapping up midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger from the German champions.

But the Dutchman has not finished with his former club yet and wants to take forward Muller to Old Trafford.

And according to German broadcaster Sport1, Van Gaal has pulled the trigger of a €100m bid for the Germany international, while a lucrative five-year contract awaits the forward in England.

Bayern Munich have been clear that no further players will be sold to Manchester United this summer, following Schweinsteiger's departure.

But a bid of €100m has given the German champions pause for thought, even though it has been claimed they will still stand firm and reject the offer.

The Bundesliga champions are desperate not to be seen as a selling club and are prepared to turn down even a bid which would represent a record sale sum for a German club.
