Everton manager Roberto Martinez is interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto this summer, according to Catalan daily Sport.

The Goodison Park outfit have already acquired Gerard Deulofeu from the Catalan giants and are eager to prise away another La Masia graduate.

Roberto was part of Luis Enrique’s first team last season, but he made only four league starts over the course of the campaign as Barcelona went on to win a historic treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

The 23-year-old isn’t expected to feature prominently in Enrique’s plans for the forthcoming season.

However, the Asturian has insisted that he intends to retain the squad that brought him so much success last season.

Martinez, though, wants the Catalan to sign for Everton either on permanent basis or on a season-long loan deal.

Roberto has been part of Barcelona since 2006 and has gone on to make 56 first team appearances for the Catalan giants during his time at the club.
