Indian Super League outfit FC Pune City have completed the signing of former Rangers goalkeeper Steve Simonsen.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper lost his first eleven slot at the Ibrox during the second half of last season and was released by Rangers earlier in the summer.

The former Everton and Stoke goalkeeper was on the lookout for a new club and ISL outfit Pune City have snapped him up for the forthcoming season of the competition.

Simonsen expressed his delight in joining this new venture and said that he is looking forward to playing in the ISL for Pune City later this year.

"I am extremely honored to be playing for FC Pune City”, the Englishman was quoted as saying by Indian outlet FirstPost.com.

“I heard a lot about the ISL from friends who played last season and I’m looking forward to being part of the FC Pune City journey and hoping to bring in my experience to win games and hearts together.”

Starting his career at Nottingham Forest, Simonsen played for clubs such as Everton, Stoke City and Sheffield United before joining Rangers in 2013.

He has more than 200 appearances under his belt in the English Championship and has also played in the Premier League.

He even represented England at the Under-19 and Under-21 levels, but never made the grade for the senior team.

Atletico de Kolkata won the inaugural edition of the ISL last year.
